video of the week — health “heaven”
Posted: January 10th, 2008 | Author: justin | Filed under: music, video | No Comments »There’s always been something that awed me while watching the “ski jump” competition during the Olympics. Dudes barrel down a massive ramp at incredible speed before taking off into the air and landing (most of the time gracefully) 500 or so feet from where they left the Earth. There’s always that little part of you that hopes they wipe out on the landing (but are unharmed) too. To this day, I remain baffled to know how these “jumpers” are able to pretty much fly without getting seriously injured.
That’s what makes this unofficial, “fan-made” video for HEALTH’s “Heaven” so rad. “Heaven” serves as a fitting soundtrack to one of these soaring ski jumps in slow motion (which is actually the opening scene of Herzog’s The Great Ecstasy Of The Sculptor Steiner) — I can’t think of a better fit for the video or song. Plus, it’s perfect footage for the winter. Excited to see what the dudes from HEALTH come up with for the “official” video. Grab the mp3 below and check out the LA four-piece’s remixes over on their HEALTH // DISCO page.
