Battles and Deerhunter at South Street Seaport

Tonight will be the final South Street Seaport show and a good one at that. New York’s own math rock band, Battles, will be headlining. Their debut album released this past spring, blew me away. I imagine the live show will do no less, especially considering the depth of their musicianship, including ex-Helmet drummer John Stanier, ex-Don Caballero guitarist Ian Williams, ex-Lynx guitarist Dave Konopka, and Tyondai Braxton.

Deerhunter opens with their melodic psych-rock. On the heels of their second album, I expect a full crowd for this opener considering the rave reviews out there. I’ve been really impressed with the relaxed atmosphere of the ‘venue’ and with the booking this year. We loved the Camera Obscura show last week.
