[MP3]: Tickley Feather ”Natural Natural”
I’ve been hearing a lot about Philadelphia’s Tickley Feather (aka Annie Sachs) recently. It seems like nearly everyone I’ve been bumping in to down here has been mentioning her, so I decided to check her out and was pleasantly surprised.
A month or so ago, in June, Sachs opened for Panda Bear at the TLA and only just was selected to open select dates for Animal Collective’s upcoming tour in September. Her current releases include a limited edition white vinyl split 7” with West Philly’s Serpents of Wisdom out on Badmaster Records and another split with Bermuda Triangles on CNP Records, which includes the tracks “Fine Specimen” and “Sex Face.” I wouldn’t be surprised if sometime in the near future we saw an EP or full-length on Paw Tracks.
What really initially grabbed me on first listening to Tickley Feather’s songs was Sachs’ airy voice. It’s utterly gorgeous. Her delicate vocals swim throughout echoed layers of dreamy lo-fi bedroom psych-rock. Like the image accompanying this post, it’s all very autumnal and already has me anxiously anticipating the change of seasons.
Check out the video for “Sex Face” below and keep an eye out for dates with Animal Collective.

Tickley Feather is the best thing to come out of the whole Animal Collective family her mp3s are blowing me away. Reminds me if Syd Barrett played keyboard and were a girl who wasn’t depressed. Excellent!
