pic of the week — swing, swing, swing!

I’m not exactly sure what made me choose the above photograph for this post. Maybe because it’s summer and this picture beautifully captures the essence of the season. And maybe because I’m excited about heading out to Coney Island on Saturday. I’m not sure, but it seems like it’s from another time and place, like a distant childhood experience etched into your memory forever. An experience that’s little blurry and fading around the edges from the passage of time. Gorgeous what those little Holga cameras can do in the right hands.

Anyway, moving onto the music. Music, like pictures can also remind us of a specific time and place. Put a record on and you can instantly be taken to another time in your life. The new record by The Tuss has certainly been doing a good job of leaving a digital imprint in my memory.

Those not familiar with the moniker “The Tuss” may recognize some of the other names he goes by; Bradley Strider, Caustic Window, Dice Man, Polygon Window, Brian Tregaskin…ummm…Richard D. James, APHEX TWIN. Well that’s what the word on the street is anyway, I can neither confirm nor deny this claim. Either way, the record is absolutely spine-tingling. Beautifully composed and structured with intricate drum beats and drawn out breaks, Rushup Edge is brilliant. Go pick yourself up a copy from Rephlex today.
