X-Wife are from Portugal. If Thom Yorke decided to have a little fun and join Pulp to play dance-y new wave tunes; this is what they would sound like. That muted picked riff on “Ping-Pong” is catchy stuff. They play three great NYC dates before heading down to Texas for SXSW. I will definitely be checking them out.

Yesterday, Pitchfork called Gui Boratto’s debut album, Chromophobia, “one of the three or four best artist-albums to bear the Kompakt stamp.” Having cut my Boratto teeth on 2005’s “Arquipélago” and last year’s “It’s Magic,” I was pretty stoked about his debut on Kompakt.
