The Lionheart Brothers feature members from two of my favorite bands of the last two years, Serena Maneesh and 120 Days. The band consists of Marcus Forsgren, Frantz Andreassen, Audun Storset, Peter Rudolfsen, and Morten Øby and recently released Dizzy Kiss, their second full-length and first release since 2004’s Colour Contrast Context EP.

The Norweigan five-piece has been making music since 1999 and already garnered themselves a pretty solid reputation in their home country, notably due to their energetic live shows. Now the group is ready to bring their swirly psychedelic surf rock and slide guitar melodies over to the U.S. and make a splash at this year’s SXSW. Fellow countryman, Sondre Lerche already seems to be hip to the band as he stated the following on his online diary, Punchlines:

“I simply have to mention another magical song that I encountered on the radio at home before Christmas. I don’t mean to be overly patriotic or nationalistic, but this song, ‘50 Souls & A Disco Bowl’, by Norwegian band The Lionheart Brothers is so gott damn good, that my reaction the first time I heard it was half in love and half in hate.”

The Lionheart Brothers play SXSW on March 15th at Emo’s Jr. and will also be stopping in New York City beforehand for a show at Tonic on March 12th. Hopefully they’ll add a couple more U.S. dates. Check out “Hero Anthem” from Dizzy Kiss below.
