Apache Beat | “Tropics”

First off, props to Nghia for updating this sucker over the weekend.  I think our RSS is working now and this new template for writing is the bomb!

Named after Klaus Dinger’s phrase for the “motorik” beat, New York City’s Apache Beat caught my ear a few weeks ago with their single “Tropics.”  The five-piece fronted by Ilirjana Alushaj has been together for just 6 months or so, but already getting some press from the likes of Vice, Dazed Digital, and Klaxons who dropped “Tropics” as one of their favorite songs in the current issue of XLR8R.

Apache Beat are set to release a 7” on Montreal’s Summer Lovers Unlimited (The Teenagers, Crystal Castles) in April with “Tropics” on one side and a remix of the single on the b-side by “French dudes.”  Wonder who it might be?

The dark and synthy “Tropics” is a solid debut single for the group and I’m really excited to hear the rest of their work live.  Fortunately, the band is playing a slew of upcoming shows throughout the next month here in NYC, including Death Disco tomorrow night at The Annex and the Neon Lights party on February 17th at The Delancey.   Hit up the link below to listen to “Tropics.”  The remix should be killer!
