Overlooked 2006 | Motor – Klunk

In a year with so many other strong electronic and techno albums, Motor manages to stay ahead of the pack with their industrial techno debut, Klunk. From the opening track (“Black Powder”), Klunk is in your face with acid-drenched synths, dark grooves, and druggy basslines. It’s dirty, it’s filthy, it’s abrasive, and it’s so fucking good.

Motor was formed when Minnesotan producer Bryan Black and French drummer Mr. No met at a venue in Camden, London. Prior to the release of Klunk earlier this year on Novamute, the duo recorded a few singles and remixed T. Raumschmiere, Marilyn Manson, and Depeche Mode under the moniker XLover. With XLover guitarist Hugo Menendez, Motor takes on the form of a three-piece live and they have been ripping up dancefloors and festivals across the world sending crowds into fist-pumping frenzies with tracks like “Stuka Stunt,” “Black Powder,” and “1 x 1.”
