Wooster on Spring

This past Saturday, I was one of the lucky few to witness the ephemeral art exhibition known as Wooster on Spring. The collaboration of street art was put together by the good folks at the Wooster Collective in cooperation with the owner of the coveted SoHo building at 11 Spring Street. This unique exhibition is a celebration of 30 years of street art, and took place for three days only (12/15-12/17), and then all of the artwork will be destroyed (or covered after construction).

Artists came from all over the world to participate in this event and the results were phenomenal. The event sparked a frenzy and buzz in the local art scene that hasn’t been felt since the days of Haring and Basquait (just check out this video of the line on Sunday). Just when I lose hope, something spontaneous like this happens and gives me faith that this City has not lost its edge. Hopefully, all the hype will help others recognize the importance of street art that makes this city unique. Hey Bloomberg…wake up!
