London’s much buzzed about Klaxons made their U.S. debut last nite in the cramped basement formerly known as Scenic. They whipped the jam-packed scenester crowd (but not like the annoying crowd you find hanging outside of Don Hill’s on a Saturday nite) into a dancing frenzing. Good to see that people were singing along and having a super festive time. If you haven’t heard them, I like this description of their sound: ‘Crazy melodies do battle with seriously funky basslines and disjointed guitars all topped off with a heavy dose of rave culture.’ [XFM] I don’t know, but that siren and bassline part in the beginning of ‘Atlantis To Interzone’ still gets me hype! They seemed pretty down to earth when they continued the festivities with openers Holy Hail at 3am at a bar where I was having a drink with Andrew and Jac-O.

Their U.S. release Xan Valleys EP, comes out October 10 on Modular. You still have a chance to check them out at Studio B in Brooklyn with Soulwax (aka 2ManyDJs) on Thursday. Definitely come out.
