Dirty on Purpose | Mercury Lounge 6.29.06

I didn’t have a chance to post about the Dirty on Purpose (not to mistaken for Dirty Pretty Things or a Dirty Sanchez) show last week because of the busy festive 4th of July weekend. The Brooklyn band’s debut LP ‘Hallelujah Sirens’ has quickly become one of my regular listens this summer. The perfect summer album full of vocal harmonies, soft/loud wall of sound guitars then flashes of SY distortion. Plus I’m a sucker for falsetto voices, add 2 or 3 in the same song and it makes me really happy. Brooklyn’s Jaymay is a guest vocalist on like 3 songs, she adds sweet sounding coo-ing vocals. I gotta check out her music now. The record release show at Mercury Lounge was jam-packed occasion. Plus seeing DoP’s singer/drummer’s girlfriend from Au Revoire Simone jumping up and down was like Wow! (she must of ran from their opening gig for We Are Scientist).

Dirty on Purpose - Light Pollution (This song like the others on the album is awesome)
