She had Long Dark Hair and She was French
Posted: June 8th, 2006 | Author: justin | Filed under: music | 2 Comments »I’ve been listening to my fair share of electro/techno lately, ever since last year’s Ok Cowboy, I’ve been thirsty for more. Sure enough, most of the electro I’ve been listening to is via France and on the label Ed Banger Records based in Paris and home of Uffie. I’m not such a big fan of Uffie, but read and listen below to see what’s been filling my ears.
Vicarious Bliss – Various Remixes
I’m not exactly sure who the hell Vicarious Bliss is, all I know is that he’s some tall redheaded dude from France that makes killer remixes, including Daisy Daisy’s ‘Michelle Plays Ping Pong’. MPPP is one of my favorite electro/techno songs I’ve heard this year, it’s a fucking riot. Listen to it via MySpace below. Vicarious Bliss has also remixed Mystery Jets, Rinocerose, Sebastian Tellier, and Ladytron.

Justice – Waters of Nazareth EP
“This twenty-something boy duo from Paris finds a way every time of making audiences dance frantically, with a discreet tear in the eye (because of the keyboard’s chords) while raising their fists (well, because of everything else). This record contains the groundbreaking title song, the harmonically ambitious yet extremely catchy ‘Let There Be Light’, and the up-tempo Dancing Vampire-like Carpates.” [Insound]

OMR – Side Effects
I told you about OMR before, but since then I was able to get my hands on their debut album, Side Effects and a little sampler of their upcoming release Superheroes Crash. Side Effects is an absolutely beautiful album bringing together the electronic-pop of Lali Puna with the melancholy of Blonde Redhead topped off with the breathy vocals of OMR’s Virginie Krupa. Highly recommended.
